Since the birth of the Cátedra de Empresa y Humanismo of the University of Valencia, Popular Bank has been a committed sponsor, not only with financial support, but also with the development of joint activities that allow the generation and dissemination of useful knowledge for the society in which both entities are involved.
One of the lines of action that we have been developing since 2017 is the design of training conference cycles, aimed at leaders of companies located in the territory in which Popular Bank provides its services. During 2022 we focused on the three axes that determine the immediate future of the competitiveness of companies:
- Digital Transformation
- Building Committed Teams
- Social Responsibility and Sustainability (SR+S).
Regarding the first two, they have become factors that will determine the immediate future survival of companies.
As for RS+S, it is a process that requires a comprehensive rethinking of the business model, the way of creating value for stakeholders and the way in which we relate to them. As in any complex process, it is good to look at those who have already been where we want to be.
This is how the Caixa Popular 2022 Training Conference Cycle took place

Creating digital strategies or digital transformation plan?
Sagunto hosted this day of the Vocational Training Courses on November 9th with Susana Luna, as the main speaker. The expert in digital strategy and marketing explained the keys to improving direct contact with the interest groups relevant to our business, promoting in-depth knowledge of their real needs, an essential key to creating value.
Susana also told us that small and medium-sized companies have the challenge of digital transformation. Or at least, that is what they hear incessantly. However, it is necessary to understand the differences between digitalizing a company and digitally transforming it.
In the first case, we are talking about including technology in processes that can be automated, and in the second, about changing a business model with the impact of technology or creating one from scratch. The key is to design one process or another depending on the moment that each company is experiencing and to have as a first objective that the change will be reflected in the people and in the business culture.
How to integrate sustainability into the core of the company's strategy? A quick guide to developing a sustainable strategic plan
For this event, which took place on December 13, we had the participation of Isabel Castillo, of the Valencia Chamber of Commerce Sustainability Office, a pioneering figure in the Chambers at a national level, the result of public-private collaboration to guide companies and the Public Administration towards a long-term sustainable transformation that generates a social, economic and environmental impact on companies and the territories in which they operate.
Isabel explained to us that RS+S has ceased to be an option and has become a matter of survival for companies. 'Either you are sustainable or you will not be'. In addition, it gave us the keys so that medium-sized companies and, above all, the smallest ones, can begin in a sensible and viable way the process of managing CSR significantly linked to their business model. The SDGs as a basic reference and a balanced approach between compliance and continuous improvement are the keys to correct CSR management.

One more year, since the Cátedra de Empresa y Humanismo of UV We want to thank the family of Popular Bank for helping us identify the topics that are most relevant to the companies in our environment and for being able to design and offer attendees sessions that truly contribute to meeting their training needs.
In 2023, we will continue to develop joint activities that can be truly valuable for the leaders of the companies that make up the business fabric of our territory. We continue to move forward with the same commitment and enthusiasm with which we began our journey in 2017.
