Cátedra de Empresa y Humanismo Sustainable Dialogues concludes its first season of recording

July 26, 2022

The Chair of Business and Humanism of the University of Valencia, directed by the professor Thomas Gonzalez-Cruz, of the Department of Business Management of the Faculty of Economics, concludes the recordings of the first season of its “Sustainable Dialogues,” a communication project that began in spring with the aim of gaining firsthand knowledge of the social responsibility and sustainability trajectory of some Valencian companies and organizations.

The Chair, sponsored by the Regional Ministry of Sustainable Economy, Productive Sectors, Commerce and Employment of the Generalitat Valenciana, aims to become a shared space for reflection between the public administration, the university, and society. With its new claim “We explore, listen, learn and share to help you be sustainable,” The Chair has visited some of the most advanced companies in the provinces of Valencia and Alicante to interview their leaders and explore the keys that have led them to become leaders in sustainability and social responsibility.

The Director of the Chair has been in charge of conducting the dialogues that have a television interview format and that can be seen on the YouTube channel of the Chair.

The first two Sustainable Dialogues featured the Novaterra Foundation and the Alicante furniture company, Actiu.

Emili Altur, director of institutional relations, CSR, fundraising, and compliance at the Novaterra Foundation, explained the key milestones that have shaped the current foundation and how the values of social responsibility and environmental sustainability permeate its organizational culture.

For its part, Soledat Berbegal, Advisor and Director of Brand Reputation at Actiu and Carmen Berbegal, Director of Social Responsibility, They provided the keys to measuring the creation of social value, environmental value, and economic value. They also explained how they manage things that can't be measured effectively.

After the summer period, the Chair will publish new episodes of its dialogues. Specifically, a large chapter recorded in the 1st International Congress of Responsible and Sustainable Companies, held at the new BIOHUB headquarters in Valencia. Juan Alfaro, Secretary General of the Club of Excellence in Sustainability, Pablo Serratosa, Executive President of the Zriser Group and José Vicente Soler, General Director of Sustainable Economy, are the protagonists of this installment.

To close this first season, the Chair has recorded a three-way interview with José María Martínez, coordinator of economic promotion of the

Paterna City Council, Manuela Pedraza Manager of the EGM of the Paterna Technology Park and Paco Alós, Director of CSR and Institutional Relations at Caixa Popular. During the recording of the dialogue, Tomás González-Cruz focused on understanding what role the three entities can play in promoting social and environmental responsibility in the productive sector to achieve a more inclusive and sustainable economy and society.

Monica Duart, CEO of Dormitienda and founder of the Mónica Duart Foundation, welcomed the Chair to its headquarters to record the final interview of this first season. Mónica spoke to us about innovation, her commitment to social responsibility, and her commitment to female talent.

To this Sustainable Dialogues project, we have added a series of online interviews, among which stands out the one that Tomás González-Cruz conducted with Kathy Roussel, Public Affairs Director of amfori - Trade with Purpose, a sustainable community that brings together more than 2,400 retailers, importers, brands and associations from more than 40 countries.
