July 12, 2023

On July 3rd, the Office of Sustainability of the Camera from Valencia organized a seminar to inform about the Registry of Socially Responsible Valencian Entities (REVSR), driven by the Generalitat Valenciana. The event was well attended due to the interest that this initiative has generated in the business and associative ecosystem of the Valencian Community.

The professor Tomás González, director of the CEiH of the UV, reviewed the key elements of the record:

  • Conditions of access,
  • Formal and substantive criteria to be considered a socially responsible entity,
  • Deadlines for dialogue with the registry and renewal of registration.

For its part, Mr. Salvador Ibáñez Moscardó, director of the Valencian Community-Mediterranean Region headquarters of AENOR, outlined the formal characteristics of the sustainability reports that entities with 50 or more employees must submit.

Finally, Mr. Samuel Félix, Head of the Technology and Knowledge Transfer Area of AIDIMME, He described his organization’s experience in the process of preparing the sustainability report, verifying the report, and preparing and submitting the application to the REVSR.

The most relevant ideas that came out of the day are as follows:

  • He REVSR is aligned with the present and future demands emanating from the EU, making it an instrument that places the Valencian Community at the head of European regions in terms of competitiveness aligned with the EU Green Deal guidelines.
  • He REVSR It is a Powerful diagnostic tool which serves as an incentive for entities in the Valencian Community that have not yet done so to begin integrating sustainability into their strategies and reporting results through their sustainability reports.
  • He REVSR It is a system in which the proportionality, since it adjusts the requirements and criteria, both formal and substantive, to the size of the entities. Recognizing that the capacities are not equal and therefore the requirements cannot be either.
  • The need for make it easier for SMEs, the central body of the economic fabric of the Valencian Community, begin the systematic process of incorporating sustainability to their strategies and management of ordinary operations.
  • Abandon an approach focused on merely reporting actions, to focus on a sustainability management approach aimed at achieving objectives, either those of the entity or those proposed from different areas —UN, EU, etc. —
  • The immediate need for trained professionals that, integrated into companies, promote the development and implementation of sustainability policies.
  • Need for train a sufficient number of verifiers that can provide professional services to entities that require verification of their sustainability reports.

Along these lines, and to respond to the need for training in sustainability, from the Cátedra de Empresa y Humanismo of the UV we suggest that you consult the Sustainability Leaders Program, a UV-specific degree, offered through ADEIT.
