{"id":784,"date":"2023-07-04T11:52:49","date_gmt":"2023-07-04T11:52:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost:8888\/ctdr\/?p=784"},"modified":"2023-07-05T09:30:15","modified_gmt":"2023-07-05T09:30:15","slug":"20-of-spanish-companies-still-do-not-have-clear-sustainability-strategies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.catedradeempresayhumanismo.com\/en\/sustainability\/20-of-spanish-companies-still-do-not-have-clear-sustainability-strategies\/","title":{"rendered":"The 20% of Spanish companies still do not have clear sustainability strategies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A recent report by Smurfit Kappa and the Financial Times, in which 440 senior executives from companies in 11 major world economies participated (40 of them from Spain) called <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.smurfitkappa.com\/es\/sustainability\/survey\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Transparency Edge&#039;<\/a><\/strong>, has revealed that 20% of Spanish companies have not yet developed clear sustainability strategies. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"> Furthermore, the report also revealed that only 381% of companies in the country have ambitious plans to achieve zero emissions by 2050 and that 431% of respondents in Spain believe that their company lacks the capacity to link sustainability practices with financial performance, compared to 301% globally. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Through this study it has been possible to show that sustainability has become a fundamental role in the strategy and planning of senior managers of Spanish companies and many of them have already begun to integrate it into performance evaluations and incentives, although <strong>Lack of training and experience in this area could compromise the achievement of sustainability goals or even lead to greenwashing. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;<em>&quot;Although there is significant interest in the corporate world to invest in sustainability, this does not usually coincide with the actions, measurements and guarantees that companies later show,&quot;<\/em>&nbsp;has highlighted&nbsp;<strong>Ruth Fraile, Head of Sustainability and GPP at Smurfit Kappa Spain, Portugal and Morocco.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The study then highlights as a main factor for sustainability, the importance of&nbsp;<strong>transparency<\/strong>, generating trust among consumers, investors and stakeholders, in addition to highlighting four key aspects in this matter:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Ensure coherence between the action and the sustainability objective to avoid the&nbsp;<em>greenwashing<\/em>;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Measuring progress on net-zero emissions initiatives; <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Communicate effectively to build trust; <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Certify sustainability performance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With the aim of promoting the implementation of sustainability, the C\u00e1tedra de Empresa y Humanismo of the University of Valencia has designed the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.catedradeempresayhumanismo.com\/en\/diploma-de-especializacion-en-responsabilidad-social-corporativa-programa-lideres-en-sostenibilidad\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sustainability Leaders Program - Diploma in Corporate Social Responsibility,<\/a><\/strong> which trains professionals with the skills and abilities necessary to design, structure and implement the social responsibility and sustainability strategies that the market and organizations demand today. <\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A recent report by Smurfit Kappa and the Financial Times, which involved 440 senior executives from companies in 11 major global economies (40 of them from Spain), called &#039;The Transparency Edge&#039;, revealed that 2014-2015 Spanish companies have yet to develop clear sustainability strategies.
